“All things being equal, people will do business with and
refer business to, those people they know, like and trust.”
– Go Giver, Bob Burger
But what if you share how much other (past/present) customers know, like and trust you? Oh wait, you can!
Popular online review sites like Facebook, Yelp, and Google provide many people with a way to see how likable and trustable a business really is. It’s a form of social proof working for you… if you choose to leverage it.
Tell your customers that reviews are appreciated
Not many people are just going to give you good reviews, and of those that do give you random reviews – who the heck knows what they’re actually going to say. Instead, give people examples of the kinds of reviews that you appreciate.
Tell your customers where to leave reviews
Now that your customers know what kind of reviews are appreciated, now you can send them where you want them to leave a review. “Review us on Facebook” with a link to the review page on your Facebook profile. “Review us on Yelp” with a link to your Yelp page. “Review us on Google” with a link to your Google business page.
Show appreciation for follow-through
It’s up to you whether or not you want to incentivize people up-front, however once someone does you a HUGE favor and leaves you a great review – thank them! You can thank them with words, a free tshirt, a Starbucks gift card… but for the love – make sure they know how much you appreciate it.
